Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) Sheet is a high-density, flexible sound barrier engineered to block airborne noise across a wide frequency range. It is composed of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) infused with heavy fillers such as barium sulfate or calcium carbonate, which significantly increase its mass and acoustic performance.
MLV is widely used in residential, commercial, and industrial soundproofing applications. It is especially effective in reducing transmission of voices, traffic noise, and mechanical sounds through walls, ceilings, floors, and partitions. Depending on thickness and installation, MLV can achieve a Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating of 26 to 32, making it one of the most efficient limp-mass barriers available.
